Did you know?

Colds and flu are most contagious in the first three days after symptoms begin, making early care important.

Understanding Cold and Flu Symptoms

Colds and flu are both viral respiratory illnesses, but they differ in how quickly symptoms appear and how severe they can become. The common cold usually develops gradually, often starting with a runny nose, sore throat, and mild fatigue. Influenza tends to begin suddenly, with more intense symptoms like fever, chills, body aches, and pronounced tiredness. Both are spread mainly through respiratory droplets, such as when someone coughs or sneezes, but can also be picked up from surfaces.

Triggers for these illnesses include close contact with infected individuals, touching contaminated objects, and weakened immune defenses. Managing these conditions often involves rest, hydration, and over-the-counter remedies to relieve symptoms. Preventive measures, such as handwashing and immune support, can help reduce risk. Seeking care early may help shorten the duration and lessen the severity of symptoms.

Common Symptoms of Cold & Flu

Cold symptoms often begin with a scratchy throat, sneezing, and a runny or stuffy nose. As the illness progresses, mild fatigue, a cough, and watery eyes may develop. Some people also notice a slight headache or low-grade fever, but symptoms are generally mild and manageable. Most colds resolve within a week, though lingering congestion can persist.

Flu symptoms usually come on suddenly and are more intense than those of a cold. High fever, chills, muscle aches, and severe tiredness are common, along with a dry cough and headache. Some individuals experience nausea or loss of appetite, especially in children. The flu can leave you feeling drained for several days or even weeks.

Both conditions may cause overlapping symptoms, making it difficult to tell them apart at first. In some cases, complications like sinus infections or bronchitis can develop, especially in those with weakened immune systems. Monitoring for worsening symptoms, such as difficulty breathing or persistent high fever, is important. Most people recover fully with supportive care, but some may need additional help to regain their strength.

Traditional Treatments

Standard treatment for colds and flu focuses on relieving symptoms and supporting the body’s natural recovery process. Rest, adequate fluid intake, and over-the-counter medications for fever, congestion, or pain are commonly recommended. In some cases, antiviral medications may be prescribed for the flu, especially if started early in the illness. These can help shorten the duration and reduce the severity of symptoms.

Other supportive measures include using humidifiers, saline nasal sprays, and throat lozenges to ease discomfort. For individuals at higher risk of complications, such as young children, older adults, or those with chronic health conditions, close monitoring is important. Preventive strategies like vaccination, hand hygiene, and immune support can help reduce the likelihood of getting sick. Integrative approaches, such as IV therapy, may be considered for those seeking additional support during recovery.

How IV Therapy May Help

IV therapy at The DRIPBaR offers a way to deliver hydration, vitamins, and antioxidants directly into your bloodstream, supporting your immune system during cold and flu season. This approach allows for rapid absorption of nutrients that may help reduce fatigue, ease congestion, and promote overall comfort. Sessions are supervised by licensed nurses, and each infusion is tailored to your needs. Many people find this method helpful for managing symptoms and supporting recovery.

Incorporating IV therapy into your wellness routine can be especially beneficial during times of increased exposure or when you feel run down. While it does not replace traditional care, it may complement your efforts to stay healthy and recover more efficiently. If you notice persistent symptoms or have concerns about your health, consult your healthcare provider before starting any new therapy.

Just wanted to post my experience with the DripBar in Keller. I have been going on a golf trip every year for the last 14 years. We play 108 holes of golf in four days in Hot Springs Village Arkansas. Every year EXCEPT this one I would come home wiped out. I used to take a few days to recover. This year I took an Allstar iv and a B-12 shot before my trip and it made world of difference. I had more energy and was not hardly sore at all after my trip. I highly recommend infusions and I will continue using them every month.
